Growth Mindset is happy to include the counseling for children and young adults (age range of 12-17) along with its other services. If you have a child or loved one who is struggling I would be pleased to assist by engaging in therapy with me!
What to Expect:
As we know, our youth are at times tight lipped, choosing carefully who and what they share with those pesky ‘adults’. As a younger man in private practice, youth typically feel easily available to open up to me. It is important for them to feel as if someone is truly listening without an opinion, and one who won’t criticize them for their emotions or actions. Being a youth is hard. I can give them a safe space to talk about what is impacting their life and hopefully help them adopt a Growth Mindset.
Areas of Expertise:
I have helped many youth in both a psychiatric hospital setting as well as a behavior clinic through therapy techniques such as Applied behavioral Analysis. Oftentimes, the most typical diagnoses I would see were depression, anxiety, autism spectrum, oppositional defiance disorder, and anger issues. I feel confident to be able to assist a myriad of issues within this age range listed below. If your child is suffering from something else that isn’t listed, please feel free to ask!

What to know about your role in your child’s therapy:
It is important that we create a place where the child/young adult (12-17) feels open to being expressive in a vulnerable and personal way. With that being said, it is best for parents to be separate during this process and allow the child the option to divulge what was said in session with their permission as we want to respect their identity and confidentiality. We can discuss this in more detail if you have questions!
For those that have need of it, I am happy to offer child and young adult counseling via Telehealth.
